Brought to God!

22 Apr

“For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God..!”

1 Peter 3:18

The just for the unjust. The Savior suffering for the sinner. The Creator taking the creation’s place.

It didn’t make sense then. And It still doesn’t, but that’s the beauty of It.

He did it that He might “bring us to God!”

“He (was) despised and rejected of men;” (Is. 53:3)

He was despised by the very ones He was dying a criminal’s death for.

He was rejected by those His sacrifice would reconcile.

He was “a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief..” (Is. 53:3)

He was sorrowful in Gethsemane’s Garden and upon Golgotha’s Hill that He might soon stand rejoicing in the salvation of His once separated children.

“He was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities:” (Is. 53:5)

He was wounded by the soldier’s whips, by the nails that ripped his flesh, and the thorns that pierced his brow that He might bare the wrath of God, a wrath we were destined for and one we so deserved.

He was bruised that He might break the bars that held us in bondage.

“He was oppressed, and He was afflicted, yet He opened not His mouth…” (Is. 53:7)

He was oppressed to deliver us from the oppression that sin would trap us under.

“And He made His grave with the wicked..” (Is. 53:9)

He spent three days in a dark and cold grave so that a grave will not be our final resting place.

He made His “soul an offering for sin,” (Is. 53:10) that we need to not come once a year bringing an animal to atone for wrongdoing, that we need not confess our faults and failures to a priest who must “offer up a sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people’s.” (Heb. 8:27)

He “poured out His soul unto death” (Is. 53:12) to deliver them who through the fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage” (Heb. 2:15), and to destroy the sting that spiritual death brings.

He was “numbered with the transgressors (Is. 53:12) so we didn’t have to be!

And hallelujah, He bore “the sins of many” (Is. 53:12) that we might be brought to God!

“But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.”

Ephesians 2:13

Happy Good Friday, sweet friends! He died so we can live! May you live the abundant life He died to give you today!

Your Holy Son, no sin to hide,
But you have sent Him from your side
To walk among this guilty sod
And to become the Lamb of God.

Oh, Lamb of God! Sweet Lamb of God!
I love the Holy Lamb of God!
He washed me in His precious blood,
My Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God.

I was so lost, I should have died,
But you have brought me to your side
To be led by your staff and rod
And to become a child of God.

A child of God, a child of God,
By grace, I’m now a child of God.
He washed me in His precious blood,
My Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God.
