To Glorify One.

20 Aug

That is to be our goal. Our life-long pursuit. Our daily determination. Our purpose and passion.

“Thus saith the Lord,

let not the wise men glory in his wisdom..”

Why not? If you’re wise shouldn’t you be proud of it? After all, it did take hours of studying and endless effort to receive such a title.

Why not?

“Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men…” (1 Cor. 1:25)

On our smartest day, we know nothing when compared to the Infinite’s wisdom. That is why we are to glorify One.

“neither let the mighty man glory in his might…”

Why not?  To be strong. Isn’t that every man’s desire? An innate desire placed within them when God took a handful of dust and made Adam in the Garden that they might use it in the leading of their families?

Why not?

Because “…the weakness of God is stronger than men.” (1 Cor. 1:25)

At the point when we are strongest, we remain weak and useless when compared to His unshakeable Strength. That is why we are to glorify One.

“…let not the rich man glory in his riches…”

Why not? Money. We all need it and it certainly helps to have more than you need. There’s nothing wrong with a little breathing room when it comes to finances, right?

But Scripture warns that it is not to be gloried in.

Why not?

Because it all belongs to Him in the first place. “for every beast of the forest is (His), and the cattle upon a thousand hills.” (Psalm 50:10)

” The sea is His, and He made it: and His hands formed the dry land.” (Psalm 95:5)

He owns the ground we walk on, the water we drink, the air we breathe. That is why we are to glorify One.

“…let him that glorieth glory in this, that He understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the LORD which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the LORD.”

(Jeremiah 9:23-24)

We are to glorify One because only One deserves to be glorified.

Only One is loving when we are anything but loveable.

Only One is just and good when we are selfish and wrong.

Only One is righteous and sinless when we are sinful and so far from where we should be.

May we glorify One this weekend.

Happy Friday, friends!
