Answered Prayers…

23 Sep

prayer2There is a sweet victory in answered prayers,  a victory that doesn’t belong to us as helpless human beings but to our Awesome God alone! I am praising Him tonight for answered prayers and the promise of continued answers!

Yesterday was a long, tiring day of teaching, waiting, more teaching and more waiting as I waited for news about my Pop Pop’s needed surgery. This surgery didn’t seem so serious to a passerby but the doctor’s were very apprehensive about it repeatedly warning us about its risks. They were unsure that his heart and lungs were strong enough for even something like a partial hip replacement. They made sure that we understood how serious it was. Then a little after 4:00, they finally decided that they must do the surgery despite the risk. In our uncertainty and fear, we sought the Great Physician Himself and trusted His decision kissing Pop Pop goodbye as they wheeled him into surgery.

Almost 4 hours later, we happily kissed him again as he returned to his room from recovery!!!! The doctor said that his heart and lungs did remarkably well and that he lost very little blood! Tears of joy and praise unto a God that hears and answers the prayers of His people filled our eyes.

The road ahead through rehabilitation will be a long one, but we are thankful that He is with us to be able to walk down that road. We know that it is only because of the goodness and faithfulness of our God! Thank you for your part in praying!

I”ve been thinking a lot lately about how different life would be without the privilege of prayer. Can you imagine not having the Lord to turn to both on the good days and especially on the bad? My heart aches for those who don’t have a personal relationship with Him and miss out on His Aide and Help! I am so thankful that He is today more than ever my “VERY PRESENT HELP in trouble!” (Psalm 46:1) I can turn to Him at ALL times! When there’s no one else to talk to, no one else that seems to understand my Lord is only a prayer away!

Think about how different today would have been for you had you not been able to seek the Savior! How different my morning would be as I wouldn’t need to bow before Him after I slip from bed to begin the day. Then how different my teaching would be as I wouldn’t benefit from His patience and wisdom to make me a patient and effective teacher. Then of course I wonder how different yesterday would’ve been had we not been able to seek His protection and sustaining of my Pop Pop through surgery. There would have been no petitioning for a guiding of the surgeon’s hands or for peace to fill our anxious hearts. Oh how different life would be!

Thank You, Lord, for the privilege of seeking You through prayer and for Your answers that You are so faithful to give!

“Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7
