He Owns It All!

2 Sep

In light of our recent economic state as a nation, I have been hearing almost daily of another person, another family impacted by the loss of a steady paycheck. Things look bleak. I must use both hands to count the number of people that have been negatively impacted by our weakened economy and these are the ones I’ve heard about only in the last week! It can be frightening when we see so much crumbling day after day.

But tonight the Lord brought this verse to mind as I drove home on the country roads of Pennsylvania.

cows  For every beast of the forest is mine, and the cattle upon a thousand hills.

Psalms 50:10

When the bills at the end of the month are larger than your paycheck, He still owns it all. When the stability of our workplaces seem to weaken almost daily, He still owns it all. When the bank statement reads OVERDRAWN, He still owns it all. When you lie awake at night worrying and wondering how you will pay for this and pay for that, He still owns it all, and He has promised continual provision for His children. The Psalmist made a statement that is still true today, “I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.” Psalms 37:25

He has commanded us not to worry for we accomplish nothing when doing so. Jesus, Himself, used this illustration: “Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?” Matthew 6:27 We cannot change our circumstance by fretting, wishing, or hoping, but we can find comfort in the fact that He who owns it all is in complete control!

Every blade of grass, every cloud in the sky, every cow upon the hillside belongs to Him so I can, we can, trust Him to provide COME WHAT MAY!
