“He hath delivered my soul in PEACE from the battle that was against me;…” Psalm 55:18

Peace is certainly not a characteristic that we can claim in ourselves in the midst of the battle! But my God has given just that! Sweet peace though the Enemy rages! I am continually amazed by His peace that truly does pass all understanding! 🙂

The Lord never promised that the Christian life would be without battles, but He did promise strength and peace in the midst of them and victory in the end! But, Paul tells us in Philippians that we must do something to receive that peace and strength and to come out a victor when the battle is over!

“Be careful for NOTHING; but in EVERYTHING by PRAYER and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the PEACE of God, which PASSETH ALL UNDERSTANDING, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7

To receive God’s peace we must resort to Him continually! In the midst of the battle, our greatest defense is prayer! He will then return our faithfulness with the precious gift of His wonderful peace! 🙂 Again, He won’t always take the battle away, but He will “deliver our soul(s) in PEACE ..!” In exchange for the fear and worry that would otherwise plague us, we can wait patiently as He fights our battles for us! (Exodus 14:14)

The word “peace” in Philippians 4:7 comes from the Greek word eirene meaning “peace, quietness, rest,” Surely, I could never have a quiet spirit when facing the battles of life in self, but that’s exactly the spirit God desires to give me! He wants me to “rest” in Him!

“Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of him who bringeth wicked devises to pass.” Psalm 37:7

He desires that I “fret not” and enjoy the peace that’s mine because of His goodness! Through prayer we can keep our “minds stayed on (Him)” and live in His “perfect peace!” Isaiah 26:3

“For Thou hast girded me with STRENGTH to battle..!” 2 Samuel 22:40
