Are we hiding the Gospel?

25 Mar

It has been a busy yet blessed week! The Lord has been so good, and He has blessed in mighty ways in the Revival services we’ve been privileged to be a part of! Over the last week or so, this verse has been so heavy on my heart! I cannot seem to escape the reality of it and the challenge we have as God’s people to be bold in our witness for Christ!

“But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost.” 2 Corinthians 4:3

How often have I hidden the Gospel! It should bring tears of repentance to my eyes to think of the times that I have neglected to speak the Gospel to the lost the Lord has placed in my path! Can you imagine how different our lives would be if those who told us of the Good News of Jesus Christ hid it from us? Not only would our lives lack the sweet Presence of a Savior in today, but our eternity would also lack the never-ending joy of Heaven. If we grasped this fact, would we then tell them and stop hiding it?

Jesus did not die for us only but for the sins of the entire world! We should be so thrilled and amazed by the fact that God has shined His marvellous light into our hearts that we cannot help but share it with others! “For God.. hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ!” 2 Cor. 4:6 He shined His light on us when we were in the darkness of sin and shame! Should we not shine it continuously to the dark world around us?

This familiar song from our childhood is so applicable to our lives today! “Hide it under a bushel? NO! I’m gonna let it shine!” May we realize that the people we come into contact with each day are never-dying souls and have an eternity to spend in one of two places! May we stop hiding the Gospel and start shining into the darkness!

Lord, help us to understand that without someone giving us the Gospel, we would still be in darkness! Give us boldness to overcome the fear that the devil wants to paralyze us with so that we may see Your power open the eyes of the blind! We’ve been silent too long… Help us to SHINE your Light!

“Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.  Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” Matthew 5:14-16

SHINE BRIGHTLY TODAY!!!  🙂 The Lost are depending on us!
